The wildflowers are starting to bloom east of Bakersfield California on Highway 58. (Google Map Link) Bakersfield was nicer than I thought it would be, probably because it was spring, I'm not sure I'd want to visit in the summer. Here it is:

Its the year of the boar (pig) which means there were about 4882 little Asian kids dressed up as pigs. The year of the monkey will obviously be the best parade ever.
